Vision. Goals. Action! (VGA) helps to change the lives of eligible Atlanta Habitat homebuyers, homeowners, and their dependents, as well as My Money. My Future. participants through scholarship and grant awards.
In addition to scholarships, Atlanta Habitat holds workshops and trainings through Atlanta Habitat’s Home Smart education program for anyone seeking higher education and professional opportunities. VGA also includes entrepreneurship opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs through vetted classes, and a leadership-speaker series, Boss Talk, while seasoned entrepreneurs can compete through our Launch! Competition to win money towards their business via a “Shark Tank” style event.
Since its creation in 2015, VGA has expanded each year—impacting 36 families, awarding more than $60,000 in grants and scholarships.
Recent VGA awardees include Ladies Under Pressure (a woman-owned power washing company), Official Travel Agency LLC (a travel agency), and Mom’s Only Club (a mom’s support group), as well as 8 educational scholarships given to adults and teens by Atlanta Habitat and over 20 scholarships given to Atlanta Habitat infants and children by a partner organization, Start Now Press.
VGA supports intergenerational, local, and economic mobility thanks to the generosity of its sponsors, which include the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, the Home Depot Foundation, and Wells Fargo.
How to Apply
VGA scholarships are up to $5,000 (paid directly to the accredited educational organization, to the provider of services, or reimbursed to the award recipient). Atlanta Habitat homeowners and their dependents under the age of 26 are eligible to apply.
Availability:
- The awards for each year are dependent on available funding.
- There is a limited amount of funding available for time-sensitive opportunities. Applications received by the end of a month will be awarded in the following month.
