At Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta, Inc. (“Atlanta Habitat for Humanity”, “we” and “us”), your right to privacy is a primary concern. This privacy policy explains how the information you provide to Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta, Inc. is protected by us.

Information Collected from our Donors.  

All information collected from donors, whether through online or offline means is protected.  When you provide your personal information, including name, address, phone number, email address, etc., your personal information is used only for the purposes for which you provide it.

There are several areas on our website where we ask for your information so that we can enhance your visit to our site, to fulfill your donation request, or to follow up with you after your visit.  As well, when you provide information through an offline process, it is to enhance and improve our communications with you and fulfill any request you may have.

  • Payment information: gift details, credit card number, expiration date, security code, and billing information;
  • Information you wish to share including, but not limited to:  questions, comments, suggestions;
  • Requests to receive periodic updates: e.g., to individuals who request it, we will send periodic mailings, newsletters, and/or e-mails related to specific special events, fund-raising events or appeals.
  • The Atlanta Habitat for Humanity server automatically recognizes each visitor’s domain name but does not automatically collect personally identifiable information.  A “cookie” is a small piece of data that may be stored on your computer’s hard drive when you visit the site.  Atlanta Habitat for Humanity uses cookies to analyze our website’s overall traffic patterns and improve our visitors’ online experience.  We do not use cookies to store or collect any personal information.  Many browsers provide an option to block or remove cookies.  You can visit our website successfully while blocking cookies, but leaving cookies enabled in your browser will help us to improve our site’s usability and effectiveness.  Some areas of our online volunteer registration, orientation, and other areas require the use of cookies in order to maintain the security of your information and allow you to go from one page to the next without entering your information multiple times;

How Information is Used.  

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity uses your information to complete a transaction, communicate with you, and update you on organizational news and happenings.  Credit card numbers are used only for donation or payment processing and are not retained for other purposes. The information you provide to us will be kept confidential and used only by us and our third party providers. Such third parties shall subscribe to the privacy principles in this privacy policy. Your personal information will not be passed to third parties for their marketing purposes. When you make a donation through the Site, we will use a third party provider to process your credit card information. Though the provider has represented to us that it uses industry standard security protocols to restrict physical as well as electronic access to your credit card information, we do not guarantee the security of your information when processed by the third party provider. We are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by our third party provider. You are encouraged to review the privacy policy of our third party provider prior to submitting your credit card information.

The Security of Your Information.

We strive to protect the privacy of the information that you share with us. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.  As a result, although we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of the information that you submit to us via the Site and you do so at your own risk.

The Site may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by other websites. Users are encouraged to review the privacy policy of any website linked to from the Site.

No Sharing of Personal Information.  

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.  Use of donor information will be limited to the internal purposes of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.  We assure you that the identity of our donors will be kept confidential. We may share aggregated customer information such as statistics about our customers, sales, traffic patterns and related site information, with our business partners and other reputable vendors, but such aggregated information will not contain any personally identifying information of any users of the Site.

We may disclose or access your account information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.

Removing Your Name From Our Mailing List.  

Your privacy is very important to us.   We rely on the good will and generosity of our supporters and want to make every effort to ensure your experience with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is positive.   We want to keep you abreast of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity activities, but do not want to send unwanted communications. Please contact us at info@atlantahabitat.org or (404) 223-5180 if you wish to be removed from our mailing list.  E-mail communications received from us also provide a mechanism to have your address removed from our contact list. You may limit your ability to receive some or all of the services generally offered to users of the Site by choosing to be removed from our mailing list.

Access to Your Information.

Transfer of Business Assets.

As part of our business strategy, we might acquire, buy or merge with other businesses or assets.  In such transactions, customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets.  Also, in the event that Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta, Inc. or substantially all of its assets are acquired, both personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information will be one of the transferred assets.
