My Money. My Future. is a comprehensive financial literacy program designed to help prepare you for homeownership through classes and one-on-one coaching.

My Money. My Future. is a financial literacy program that helps you establish the framework for successful money and credit management and empowers you to reach your financial goals.

This program includes:

  • A HUD-certified homebuyer workshop, which is often required to receive down payment assistance funding
  • A personal financial coach for up to one year
  • Access to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity’s Home Smart education program, which includes classes on financial literacy, health and wellness, and entrepreneurship
  • Access to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity’s VGA scholarship program, with the potential to receive up to $2,500 for educational or career development activities
  • Eligibility to receive up to a $500 savings match throughout program enrollment.
  • Eligibility to receive up to 25 sweat-equity hours if accepted to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity’s home purchase program

What is my commitment to the My Money. My Future. program?

  • Complete the HUD-certified workshop

Complete one of the following:

  • Meet with a financial coach for at least six months. You will have the option to continue coaching for up to one year based on achievement of your goals.
  • Attend at least six financial or Home Smart classes offered by Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.

Does this program cost money?

No. It is completely free.

Will this program increase my chances of being accepted in the Atlanta Habitat for Humanity's home purchase program.

Attending and completing My Money. My Future. will not give you an advantage in Atlanta Habitat’s home purchase program. However, if you are not currently financially qualified to purchase a home, committing to working with a financial coach may help you become mortgage-ready with any mortgage lender. Why would I want to attend this program if I cannot buy an Atlanta Habitat built house in the next year?

  • You will get free, individualized financial coaching so you can set up and achieve your financial goals
  • You will get an individualized plan to lower your debts and increase your credit score
  • You have an opportunity to receive up to $500 in a savings match
  • You will have a plan to help you become mortgage ready so you can buy your first home. The HUD class completion may help qualify you for down payment assistance
  • You will have access to education and resources to help you achieve your goals not normally available to the public
