Executive Transition

January 12, 2022

I am humbled and awed by all the impactful work we have done together since I joined the Atlanta Habitat team nearly seven years ago. Together we have realized our shared vision of impacting more families and revitalizing neighborhoods. Block by block we have seen an unimaginable transformation. We have served families through our build, rehab, and repair and brush with kindness programs. We have come together as a community to support our homeowners and to take care of each other during this pandemic – including identifying creative ways for seniors and veterans to improve their quality of life while they sheltered safely in their homes.

I believe passionately in our collective ability to make transformational change when we work together to serve others. My commitment to making a difference and impacting our community has guided me in my decision to join Mayor Andre Dickens administration as the Chief Operating Officer on February 7, 2022. This is a unique opportunity to identify innovative ways to address some of the most complex social and economic issues that we face. I am honored to have the chance to continue to influence the policy and funding decisions that directly affect the access to and capital for affordable housing.

It has been a wonderful journey with Atlanta Habitat. I am so proud of our recent completion of all the projects funded by Atlanta Habitat’s $15.5 million dollar capital campaign including building Browns Mill Village and opening a new ReStore and operations center in South Fulton. We have been able to serve more than 225 people with critical repairs and invest $1 million in the land inventory. The total impact of this work will reach more than 600 people by 2025.

I have been so fortunate to have the pleasure of working with the Board Directors, Advisory Council and the most dedicated team here at Atlanta Habitat. Our collective efforts have been recognized by honors including the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Best Charity in Metro Atlanta in 2020, Affiliate of Distinction by Habitat International in 2017, and Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Best Place to Work in 2016. Just as important has been our repeated four-star Charity Navigator rating and our recent GuideStar Platinum designation that demonstrates our commitment to transparency and strong financial management.

The Board will conduct an Executive Search and will appoint an interim CEO shortly. I am confident that the deeply experienced executive team, outstanding staff, and dedicated volunteer leadership will continue Atlanta Habitat’s crucial work uninterrupted in the weeks and months to come.

I will continue to stay abreast of the organization’s success and remain a champion for this important work.

Many Thanks,
