Do It Like Delta

September 8, 2017

“You haven’t done anything for anyone until you’ve done something for them that they can’t repay,” said Kim Mills-Smith, the Delta house lead for Atlanta Habitat’s 2017 Delta builds.

Joined by three happy Atlanta Habitat homebuyers and nearly 50 Delta Air Lines volunteers, our construction team completed nearly two weeks worth of work in a day’s time.”This was possible because of the number of volunteers present and the build method we used,” said Atlanta Habitat House Leader Rachel Barber.

“Delta has a history of partnering with Habitat for Humanity International and since 1990 we’ve helped build nearly 250 homes,” Mills-Smith says. “Volunteering with Atlanta Habitat is an experience like no other. A person can donate food to a food bank and never see the person who benefits from their giving, but Atlanta Habitat provides the rare opportunity to meet and work directly with the recipients of our giving. Habitat is a part of who we are and this is a tradition that we here at Delta love!”

By mid-day, the team was finished constructing the initial framework for two neighboring homes in the Dixie Hills community.

The homes are expected to be dedicated on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2017.
