ATLANTA WOMEN’S BUILD HOSTS EXECUTIVE WOMEN’S BUILD DAY
September 28, 2015
For the fourth year in a row, the Atlanta Women’s Build hosted 28 women CEOs and top executives from several Atlanta area businesses, nonprofit organizations, and city government for Executive Women’s Build Day on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The Executive Women’s Build Day is a special day of service that showcases Atlanta leaders committed to making a positive impact in the community as they work alongside an empowered woman homeowner who is building a better future for her family. Executive women representing diverse organizations from all across the city came together that morning to participate in building tasks such as caulking, painting, installation of soffit, trim work, and completing the side porch.
Lisa Gordon, Atlanta Habitat president & CEO, had this to say about her experience participating in the day: “It was an honor to build with many of the top women executives in Atlanta. They worked as a team, and it was wonderful to see how our work is part of building a home for a deserving homebuyer.”
The Atlanta Women’s Build is a grass-roots effort led by women who raise funds to sponsor and construct an Atlanta Habitat home for a working mother and her family. Nearly 300 women volunteers work side by side with the homebuyer to construct the house, offering a unique opportunity to highlight the ways that Atlanta Habitat empowers women and builds stability in communities. Since 2003, the Atlanta Women’s Build leadership has guided the construction of seven Atlanta Habitat homes for a working mother and her family and look to complete its eighth on Oct. 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. Media is invited to attend the special dedication ceremony for the Sistrunk family in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood.
