Atlanta Habitat Honored as Top 100 Best Places to Work in 2016
September 13, 2016
Atlanta Habitat for Humanity was recognized as one of the top 100 best places to work at the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2016 Best Places To Work awards, Thursday, Sept. 8.
Atlanta Habitat, the only nonprofit in the medium company category, ranked #19 and is one of only two nonprofits in the top hundred companies to receive awards.
“We are honored and proud to join many of Atlanta’s private companies in winning this top distinction,” said Lisa Y. Gordon, CEO/President of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Each of our employees contributes to our healthy, engaged culture through their dedication to our mission to transform communities. This award honors them.”
Gordon has been at the helm of Atlanta Habitat since July 2014 and has since directed the development of a new mission, vision and strategy for the organization and adds that it was Atlanta Habitat board chair emeritus Brantley Barrow who first believed the organization was worthy of the nomination.
This summer, Atlanta Habitat’s board of directors and the executive team engaged an independent firm to conduct an employee survey. The survey reported an overall 90 percent satisfaction rating among Atlanta Habitat’s 60 employees—all whom participated in the survey.
“It is no surprise that Atlanta Habitat would receive such an honor,” said Darryl A. Hicks, chairperson, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. “I congratulate each hardworking and talented team member for making Atlanta Habitat such a wonderful place to work.”
Each year, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, in partnership with Omaha, Neb.-based Quantum, survey metro area employers to find those that have discovered how to become one of Atlanta’s Best Places To Work. The Chronicle asked readers to nominate workplaces in metro Atlanta. Nominations were accepted during the past year on the Chronicle’s website. Quantum ranked the top 100 employers in four categories: the top 10 among extra-large employers (500 employees and up), the top 20 among large employers (100 to 499 employees), the top 20 among medium employers (50 to 99 employees) and the top 50 among small employers (10 to 49 employees). Only employers with at least 10 employees could participate. According to Quantum Workplace, top-performing organizations know that employee engagement drives business outcomes. Engaged employees are more productive, more profitable, more customer-focused, and more likely to stay.
