Atlanta Habitat homebuyer and house sponsor Novelis Recycle for Good to mark investment in Atlanta’s historic Westside

July 13, 2017

Dedication is noon, Saturday, July 15

When Atlanta Habitat for Humanity homebuyer RaShawn Medley dedicates her first home this Saturday, it will mark a major achievement for her as well as for house sponsor Novelis and Atlanta Habitat.

Medley’s new home is the first Atlanta Habitat house whose construction was mainly funded from the value of recycled aluminum cans—many of which were collected during the 2016-17 Atlanta Falcons season during its Recycle for Good initiative with Novelis. As part of Recycle for Good, every three million aluminum cans and bottles collected through Recycle for Good funds a Habitat for Humanity home in Atlanta’s historic Westside community. For Atlanta Habitat, the house marks its first new house build on the Westside since 2009. The nonprofit homebuilder owns several lots on the Westside and plans to build additional homes in the near future. Novelis, Westside partners, and dozens of volunteers who have worked alongside Medley over the last eight weeks to build the house will return for the special dedication.
