Critical Home Repair
Qualified homeowners can receive help completing critical repairs that will make their homes safe, dry, and accessible.
Repair with Kindness
Our Repair with Kindness program (RWK) helps qualified homeowners by repairing homes to make them safe, dry, and accessible. As an Aging in Place Habitat for Humanity affiliate, additional services may be available for recipients age 55 or older.
How It Works
Repair with Kindness is a 5-year forgivable loan program. Atlanta Habitat can complete up to $20,000 of critical home repairs per house. The total cost of the repairs would be put against the house in the form of a security interest, which is a five-year forgivable loan.
As long as you remain living in your home for five years after we finish the repairs, and as long as you stay current on any mortgage payments, property taxes, and homeowner's insurance during that time, then we will forgive the entire balance of the loan at the end of the five years, and you would not owe anything back.
Service Area
RWK is available to non-Atlanta Habitat homeowners who live in select neighborhoods in Atlanta and South Fulton County.
This program is also offered to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans or active-duty personnel who meet the program qualifications and live anywhere in the city limits of Atlanta or South Fulton County.
Types of Repairs
The Repair with Kindness program is for critical home repairs only. Critical repairs are items that would improve your health, safety, accessibility, or the weatherization of your home.
