Celebrate Good Times! Atlanta Habitat launches NEW ReStore in South Fulton

August 16, 2021

Atlanta Habitat friends, fans and shoppers celebrated the grand opening of the Atlanta Habitat ReStore in South Fulton on August 12. It was part block party and part community shopping spree to commemorate the organizations and partners who helped us launch our largest expansion in the organization’s 38-year history. The new ReStore & Service Center is at 5626 Old National Highway, South Fulton. The 30,000 square-foot facility is our new hub for community engagement in South Fulton County. In addition to its first-time homebuyer program for income-qualified families, Atlanta Habitat will offer critical home repairs, financial literacy programs, ongoing education programs, scholarships and entrepreneurial training and grants. We are on track to serve nearly 1,200 new families from now through 2025. We will focus on neighborhoods in East Point, Fairburn and South Fulton and Atlanta. “Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is a beacon of hope for many families striving to realize the dream of owning their own homes,” said City of South Fulton Mayor William “Bill” Edwards. “The City of South Fulton is honored and humbled to work with such a compassionate partner as we—together—help some of these families realize this life-changing achievement.” It’s an exciting time for us!” said Lisa Y. Gordon, Atlanta Habitat President & CEO. “Atlanta Habitat has made an estimated $40 million impact on affordable housing in neighborhoods across Atlanta over the last five years. The next five years are set to be even more impactful as we expand our focus to South Fulton County. We’re grateful to the South Fulton community for welcoming us so enthusiastically.” Making this expansion possible are partners that helped us exceed our capital campaign goal of $15.5 million. Atlanta Habitat thanks lead donors Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation and Delta Air Lines, and other major contributors, including the James M. Cox Foundation, Wells Fargo Foundation, Georgia-Pacific Foundation, Home Depot Foundation, Kendeda Fund, Tull Charitable Foundation, Georgia Power Foundation, Chick-Fil-A, Novelis, the Coca-Cola Foundation, SunTrust Bank Foundation and Trusteed Foundation, King & Spalding, Deloitte, and many more generous private foundations, companies and individuals.
