Big Day for Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Habitat homebuyer
June 8, 2018
House Dedication, June 9
This Saturday is a big day for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Habitat first-time homebuyer Asa Smith. Falcons Cheerleaders and Freddie Falcon will help Smith and her two-year-old son dedicate their new home. The home dedication also marks the first time the Falcons have built a house with Atlanta Habitat.
Atlanta Falcons players and Atlanta Police Officers worked alongside Smith last month to build the home. This house build is one of several social justice initiatives that the Falcons organization is leading in partnership with The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Atlanta Police Foundation and the Atlanta Police Department.
Atlanta Habitat, the largest nonprofit homebuilder in Atlanta, helps to tackle Atlanta’s affordable housing crisis and revitalizes neighborhoods through its first-time homebuyer and critical home repair programs. The organization provides opportunities for low- and very low- income families to buy their first home at an affordable, zero-interest mortgage. Atlanta Habitat helped 135 new families in 2017 and empowered nearly 6,000 family members through homeownership since 1983.
APD and APF support a range of Westside community revitalization programs, including providing access to affordable city housing for police officers.
