Atlanta’s Food and Hospitality Industry Completed an Atlanta Habitat for Humanity House in the Polar Rock Neighborhood
July 20, 2015
Atlanta Habitat for Humanity completed its third Home Cooking & Southern Hospitality house on Thursday, July 16, 2015. A dedication ceremony was held at noon, after the Jackson family’s house received landscaping and other finishing touches.
This year’s build featured 16 different companies in the restaurant, food service, and hospitality industries. The sponsors included Arby’s Foundation, Church’s Chicken, Cinnabon, Concentrics Restaurants and Middleton Family Wines, Gate Gourmet, Hospitality Ventures Management Group, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, PepsiCo, Portman Companies, Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, Sodexo, The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, The Westin Peachtree Plaza, Willy’s Mexicana Grill, and Yeah! Burger.
Together the companies committed nearly $80,000 in financial support. Many found unique ways to raise the funds by hosting dine-out events or by leaving jars for coins at checkout. Employees from these businesses have also donated more than 2,000 volunteer hours for construction.
Representatives from some of the participating companies were in attendance to celebrate with Ms. Jackson and her family.
