2020 Welcome to Our Neighborhood Gala Canceled

  • Post category:CEO Corner

As you know, Atlanta Habitat’s signature event, the Welcome to Our Neighborhood gala, celebrates our mission to revitalize neighborhoods and raises awareness of our work to transform metro Atlanta. The gala has been crucial to funding our affordable housing and neighborhood activities. This year, we planned to highlight activities that go beyond the build to create pathways of social and economic mobility for our families.

However, amid growing concerns around COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control, Georgia Public Health, and advice from our board of directors, event planners and presenting sponsors, we have decided to cancel the event this year.

Given that the funds from this event were designated to support our mission, which includes affordable homeownership, critical home repairs, education scholarships, and neighborhood revitalization, we hope that you will consider allowing us to use your contribution in a way that aligns with your goals for giving.

As for our daily operations, we are now closed from March 14 to at least March 30, 2020, with some employees working remotely. We have also established additional health safety measures that will be enforced at our build-sites, offices, ReStore and warehouse when we resume operations. Additionally, we are following Habitat for Humanity International’s travel restrictions that prohibit international travel and incorporating any new guidelines the CDC advises.

We consider you a part of our Atlanta Habitat family, and we are committed to operating in a manner that prioritizes your health and safety while honoring your ongoing commitment to our critical mission. Your generous support of our families during this rapidly evolving health crisis is key to our ongoing success.

Thank you for your commitment to Atlanta Habitat.

Sincerely,

Lisa Y. Gordon, CPA
