Volunteers are the heart and soul of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. As one of the largest affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, it takes thousands of volunteers, working thousands of hours, to help us carry out our mission. Whether your preference is hands-on building, family service or volunteering remotely, there are many different ways you can get involved with Atlanta Habitat. Here are four:

• Non-Sponsored Build Groups

Our Non-Sponsored Group option provides home-building projects for groups of eight or less on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. These groups, which represent a large part of Atlanta Habitat volunteers, support the work of larger house sponsors.  Since orientation isn’t required, this is a great way to get involved and make sure home-building is a good fit. • ReStore

ReStore is where we show off our generous community donations through strategic merchandising. We create beautiful displays to sell the items. There are a variety of ways to help at the ReStore, including working with people and products on the sales floor, testing products for quality control or working with staff to lift heavy donations. We have locations in Atlanta and South Fulton. Complete our virtual orientation to get started.

• Home Smart Instructor Program

Atlanta Habitat homebuyers are required to attend 13 Home Smart classes as a requirement for closing on their homes. Our 12 required classes are taught by long-term partners, but we are always looking for innovative elective classes and volunteers to teach them. Previous offerings include landscaping, Emergency Preparedness and Fire Safety and Decorating on a Budget, among others. • Homebuyer Letters

Homeownership is an exciting accomplishment! Help our homeowners celebrate by writing a handwritten letter or email of support. This virtual volunteer option takes only a few minutes and makes a huge impact. Complete this Volunteer Preference form to be paired with a current homebuyer.
