Education: The Key to Every Atlanta Habitat Home

  • Post category:Blog Post

Education is the foundation to success. At Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, we take the opportunity to lead by serving our community and future homeowners with the resources they need to prepare for success. Many of these resources come down to education. Before future Atlanta Habitat Homeowners can become new Homeowners, they are required to take classes that serve as pillars to the new world they have to navigate as homeowners.

Less than half of Americans are financially literate. With a solid financial education, future homeowners can allow their money to work for them along with an interest-free loan. Atlanta Habitat classes, which also count as sweat equity for homeowners, are focused on helping elevate the knowledge needed for homeownership such as financial literacy. With the large goal of a new mortgage, things like managing debt and a successful career life come to the forefront. This is why we take our education opportunities seriously and present classes that help promote access to truly life-changing information.

We believe education helps ground our homeowners and set a new path that allows them to grow now and thrive in their futures. Vast subjects like financial literacy, home repairs or home improvement can be a lot to tackle alone and it is why we provide a community before, during, and after with our classes. Because we know a community is just as big of a deal as financial literacy, we have classes like community involvement that are required courses. Learning how to properly get involved can lead to not only a stronger journey, but a positive impact for those all around.

Some of our courses include: Community Involvement, Crime Prevention, Exterior Maintenance, Meet Your Budget, Bank On It and more.

As leaders in affordable housing, we promote accessibility and knowledge to create a lasting change in Atlanta. Follow us as we continue our efforts in homeowner education.
