Volunteer for the Pat McGauley Honor Build

  • Post category:Blog Post

This year has been characterized by celebrating the folks who have impacted our mission over the last four decades, while we still can. Earlier this year an anonymous donor reached out to honor Jim Blackstone, VP of Housing Development, and sponsor a home in his name.

Around the same time, another anonymous donor reached out to build a home in honor of Pat McGauley.  Since the 1990s, Pat has been a staple in the construction of Atlanta Habitat homes. As a house leader, he has led several new builds throughout southeast Atlanta and has trained the majority of the current house leaders.

As he stepped away from the full-time role, Pat stuck around as a volunteer skill supervisor (VSS), continuing to come out week after week.

Many of the current VSS’s can say they have been trained by Pat as well. His impact to our mission is immeasurable.

This honor build will look a little different to the build schedule volunteers have become accustomed.

This build will follow the old six-week build schedule to pay homage to the construction veteran.

Day 1: Build Start/Wall Raising

Day 2: Siding/Windows/Doors

Day 3: Siding/Roof/Painting

Day 4: Siding/Roof

Day 5: Interior/Cabinets/Trim

Day 6: Yard/Garden/Dedication

The build starts in June, register here: https://vhub.at/PMHB
