Atlanta Habitat for Humanity’s Construction Internship Program
Atlanta Habitat’s Construction Internship Program, Foundation to Finish, provides emerging professionals with paid, hands-on experience in residential construction while helping build quality homes across Atlanta. This program creates an entry point into the skilled trades by giving individuals the foundational training and real-world experience that can be difficult to access without prior construction experience.
Throughout the year, Atlanta Habitat welcomes 6–8 construction interns for an immersive 8-week, hands-on experience with our Construction team. Each intern receives individualized instruction and mentorship while working alongside experienced construction professionals on active Atlanta Habitat homebuilding sites.
Interns gain practical experience across the homebuilding process while developing skills in carpentry, construction tools and techniques, reading construction plans, project organization, jobsite safety, and residential construction methods. The program partners with Atlanta Technical College, Gwinnett Technical College, Georgia Piedmont Technical College, and Atlanta College and Career Academy to connect students with real-world construction experience. Through these partnerships, Foundation to Finish provides students with an opportunity to apply what they are already learning in the classroom to an active construction site while building relationships and gaining experience that can prepare them for the workforce.
